Mind/Body Fertility Program
This class is intended for women seeking to restore a sense of joy, a sense of hope, and a sense of well-being. It is also for those seeking in a class that has more of an emphasis on couples suffering from this condition, by offering practical coping strategies, for dealing with these negative feelings. This course emphasizes mind-body techniques and helping couples resolve such emotional and lifestyle issues as managing a career, dealing with friends and family members who become pregnant, and making peace with oneself when infertility treatments fail. Dr. Domar has been a leader in the field for research and has written several books on the topic. She also trained our practitioners so that her program can be offered to women worldwide. Stress is innate in the struggle with fertility. The number one goal of this program is to help women get through this journey feeling healthier in mind, body, and spirit. The skills that will be gained will not only help with this one aspect of life, but can be applied to life in general. As a result of taking part in the Mind/Body for Fertility Program, women have experienced improvements in anger, depression, and anxiety. A study carried out at Beth Israel/Deaconess Hospital in Boston has found this to be statistically significant. Also as a result, participants had a higher ongoing pregnancy rate when compared to women who participated in a support group and women who did not take part in any support program. Our hope at ORH is that we can help women to make the process of fertility treatment an easier one. Lindsay Wood, who is a women’s health care nurse practitioner, trained by Alice Domar, is very excited to be leading this program. Please call or stop by the clinic to get more information, and to find out when the next class will be starting. For further information, or to enroll in a
